Schwarzenegger’s FUBAR is a mixed bag

The action comedy featuring an old but still strong Arnold Schwarzenegger is a mixed bag. Some action sequences are great, likewise, some dialogues are smile-worthy but at the same time, it’s too corny at places, especially the CIA handler Uncle Barry and the tech he uses is way too much to fathom. But then it’s a comedy.

A sequel to 1994 hit movie True Lies, FUBAR is the kind of series you can’t stop watching but while watching you are left wondering why the hell am I watching…

Schwarzenegger as a CIA operative is at his best, ageing well and Monica Barbaro as his daughter and fellow CIA operative compliments him well. Standup comedian Fortune Feimster, as another operative, is fun sometimes but the character lacks depth, but then again this is a Schwarzenegger comedy.

As per a Cosmopolitan article the term 'FUBAR' was popularised by American soldiers during the Second World War, and means "f***ed up beyond all recognition," or alternatively, "f***ed up beyond all repair." The work-safe version appears to be "fouled up beyond all repair." It's pronounced fu-bar, and essentially means being thoroughly confused, disordered, damaged or ruined.

Not at the same level as bingeworthy Diplomat and Nightwatchmen, but can watch when you are bored with the serious stuff and life in general.
